Throughout the year, fourth-grade and fifth-grade students will create a variety of habitat enhancements to make the schoolyard a more welcoming place for people and pollinators. Students in the Teacher Prep program at WPI will present “spooky”, hands-on STEM experiments with the Girls Inc. Thursday: Art Students will explore texture and the chemical reaction of absorption by using watercolors and salt to create a painting of a tree.įriday: Math Students will work on a variety of problem solving activities using a variety of math tools. Then, they will design multiple solutions to keep a house from blowing away in a windstorm, using every day classroom materials. Wednesday: Engineering Students will explore the effects of natural hazards, such as tornadoes, hurricanes, and dust storms. Tuesday: Technology Students will use Scrtach jr to create a simple computer programs using visual instructions and tools. Monday: Science Students will be using a star map and own imaginations to create their own constellation and write a story about it.
